BAHAWALPUR, May 14: With the auction of the leftover articles of the Sadiqgarh Palace, the process of distribution of the late Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi's movable property completed here on Friday.

The sub-committee, which was assigned the job, postponed on Wednesday the auction of the remaining articles, including sofa sets, dining tables and photograph frames, due to some differences among the heirs.

Information gleaned by Dawn revealed that these articles, two pianos among them, fetched Rs4.5 million. Former MNA Sahibzada Farooq Anwar Abbasi remained the highest bidder.

Among the articles taken from the Ahmedpur police, the famous "Churchill Churchill" gun was auctioned to Sahibzada Qamaruzzaman Abbasi for Rs120,000.

It is pertinent to mention that two statues of Czar (the ruler of Russia) and his wife were also kept by the Ahmedpur police, which declined to give those to the sub-committee claiming that the case was still pending with court.

Earlier, the Rolls Royce fleet and other cars and buggies of the late Bahawalpur Nawab were auctioned, which fetched around Rs10 million to be further distributed among his legal heirs.
