PESHAWAR: Monitoring of uplift projects urged

PESHAWAR, May 14: Senior NWFP Minister Sirajul Haq has urged the elected representatives to monitor the ongoing development projects in their constituencies in order to ensure their timely completion and quality of work.

The provincial government, he said, believed in promotion of social welfare activities through consultation.

The minister stated this while presiding over meetings held to review the Malakand Rural Development Project and the pace of development projects initiated by the National Highway Authority in Malakand and construction of Nowshera-Chitral Road.

The minister was assured that work on Khwazakhela-Kalam road would commence from May 30 and efforts would be made to ensure its timely completion.

A two-member committee comprising Additional Chief Secretary Mir Laiq Shah and MPA Amirzada was constituted on the occasion which would prepare a detailed report from tourism point of view regarding Khwazakhela-Kalam road.

The minister said by promoting tourism the government could generate revenue and improve the standard of living of area people.

Earlier, speaking at a meeting of the NHA, the minister directed that the pace of work on the Nowshera-Chitral road should be expedited.-APP
