KARACHI: Loadshedding to be eliminated

KARACHI, May 14: KESC MD Brig Tariq Saddozai has said that the completion of Hubco-KESC link in the next 18 months would help reduce the quantum of load-shedding by 40 per cent and another 30 per cent load-shedding would be eliminated after its project for construction of 12 new grid stations comes on the ground.

He was addressing a press conference, along with Nazim Naimatullah Khan, held to announce a relief package for payment of dues against inactive and active power consumers.

He said that these days the city was faced with a peak power demand for 2059 MW as against 1500 MW being generated by KESC.

He pointed out that 550 MW are provided by Wapda through its two Jamshoro circuits. He said in case a circuit trips, the KESC is deprived of a supply of 250 MW. He said the loadshedding in Karachi experienced recently was because both circuits tripped and KESC had to depend on its own generated power.-APP
