5 Taliban killed

KANDAHAR, May 13: Five Afghan Taliban guerrillas were killed when they attacked a US military convoy in the Kandahar province, a senior militant commander said on Thursday.

"The American forces repelled the attack and used heavy weapons in which five of our Taliban were martyred," said Mullah Sabir Momin, the Taliban's deputy commander of operations in the south, referring to the clash on Wednesday morning in Kotal.

General Salim Khan, a police official, said five men were arrested. -Reuters
