Top Asian clubs meet in Singapore

SINGAPORE, May 11: Asia's top hockey clubs will face off in Singapore in October in the Asian Club Champions Cup, which has been resurrected after an eight-year hiatus.

The Asian Hockey Federation's competitions committee, at its meeting in Karachi on April 28, approved the Singapore Hockey Federation's bid to host the third edition of the tournament from Oct 6-10.

League champions from across the region will be eligible to take part in the competition, which is likely to include some of the superstars of world hockey from India, Pakistan, and South Korea.

Professional club or company teams from Japan, Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Bangladesh are also expected to sign up, as are the domestic amateur champions from Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka. -AFP
