Accord on reciprocal police postings

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, May 11: The AJK government on Tuesday announced a policy for the posting of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers in AJK Police in the light of decisions of the superior judiciary.

According to a notification, it was decided that in future the posting of police officers from Pakistan in AJK would be made on reciprocal basis. The AJK government would send a panel of its officers of similar rank to the federal government to be posted in Pakistan on reciprocal basis in place of those PSP officers who are currently serving in Azad Kashmir.

The notification further said that it had also been decided that the promotions against the posts of superintendents and deputy inspector-generals in Azad Kashmir would be made in accordance with the prevailing rules and regulations.

It may be noted here that the Inspector General of AJK police is always a PSP officer. Apart from him, currently the post of DIG Mirpur Range is also held by a PSP officer.
