KHAIRPUR, May 11: A large number of residents took out a procession here on Tuesday to protest against non-supply of potable water in different parts of the city.

Speaking to the protesters, Asadullah Maitlo and others said that supply of drinking water to different areas of the town had been suspended for the last many days and added that Dabar Mohalla, Osta Gahi, Panj Hatti and Saddat Colony were the worst affected.

The protesters warned that if the water supply was not resumed immediately, they would stage a sit-in outside the offices of the taluka municipal administration.

WHEAT SEIZED: Teams of the food department raided at Pakka Chang, Bhango Behan, Karondi, Ukri and Kot Lalo and seized some 2,240 bags of hoarded wheat. Food officials claimed that the grain was hoarded by Mandho Mal, Maqbool Ahmed, Krishan Mal, Abdul Sattar and Talib Hussain besides others.

TENSION: Following the kidnapping of two women from Mazan Maitlo village, tension prevailed in the area as clashes between members of two rival groups could not be ruled out. Fearing the worst, Kandhro clansmen migrated from Wada Mahessar after Marvi and Bachal Maitlo were kidnapped.

Meanwhile, Akhtar Ali Kandhro lodged a case of kidnapping of Zainab Kandhro with the Tando Masti police against some six Maitlo clansmen. However, the Maitlo clansmen have urged the Sukkur RPO to have the two women recovered in the least possible time.
