RAWALPINDI, May 11: The anti-terrorism court number II on Tuesday observed that terrorism charges could not be operated against the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) MNA, Zamurrad Khan, and two office-bearers of Muttahida Transport Action Committee , in the two cases related to the torching of two buses of a franchise transport company.

Judge Safdar Hussain Malik also extended the interim bail of PPP MNA Zamurrad Khan, general secretary of the Muttahida Transport Union Shabir Bangash and an other office-bearer of the transport union, Akram Bunda, till May 13. The court also marked the cases, which now possess some other minor charges, to the district and sessions judge.

The court removed Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act (ATA) and the charges related to robbery from the two cases registered by the Civil Lines and the City police after the investigation officer and station house officer of the City police station, Chaudhry Abdurrazak, failed to satisfy the court about the terrorism charges framed against the accused.

The defence counsel Malik Tehseen, Chaudhry Waris and Asad Abbasi contended before the court that the prosecution had failed to present any evidence.
