KARACHI, May 10: Ulema from different schools of thought on Monday criticized the government for its failure to curb incidents of terrorism in the country. Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, under banner of Insadad-e-Firqavariat and Qiam-i-Amn Forum Pakistan, they lauded role of Ulema for maintaining atmosphere of harmony among Shiites and Sunnis on tragic incident of Hyderi mosque blast in Sindh Madressatul Islam on Friday.
Maulana Irshadul Haq Thanvi, while condemning the blast in which over 15 people were killed and around 100 were injured, said that it was the responsibility of government to protect life and property of the masses.
He said that the blast was part of the scheme of anti-Muslims and anti-state elements against peaceful environment of this country and to weaken Muslims. Allama Furqan Hyder Abidi criticized the chief minister for not visiting the victims at hospitals. Thanking the governor, he said that compensation announced for deceased and injured should be immediately given.
Allama Aun Muhammad Naqvi thanked Imam of the other mosque adjacent to Hyderi mosque at SMI for calling off Friday prayers, appealing people to help shifting injured to hospitals and make arrangements for blood donation.
He said that the blast was not result of Shiite-Sunni strife but it was a conspiracy to create anarchy in the country. Maulana Asad Deobandi observed that Islam and Muslims were being made the targets of terrorism. He refuted that Muslims were terrorists.
The religious scholars also adopted a declaration urging Muslims to forge harmony and brotherhood and foil conspiracy of anti-Muslim elements. Office-bearers of the forum, including Maulana Saeed Qamar Qasmi, Maulana Zafarul Qadri, Allama Nasim Ahmed Siddiqui, Maulana Muhammad Amin Naqvi, Maulana Muhammad Ansari, Maulana Murtazi Rehmani, were also present. -PPI
