KARACHI, May 9: Acting president of the Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Sunday condemned the Hyderi Mosque tragedy and accused America and its local agents within the government, whom he termed enemies of Ummah, for the heinous act.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad visited Aga Khan and Liaquat National Hospitals immediately after arriving here from Lebanon after attending an international conference on Al Quds and inquiring the health of the injured, including the mosque's Pesh Imam, besides consulting doctors about their treatment.
Criticizing the government for what he called its failure to provide first aid, the JI chief termed it shameful, saying because of inadequate arrangements and negligence in government hospitals, the people had to be taken to private hospitals.
The MMA chief, while talking with injured and their family members, accused the US and its local agents of trying to create rift and tension between Shia and Sunni communities, expressing the confidence that their evil designs were destined to failure, saying there were no conflicts between the two communities.
Expressing the need to forge unity and sectarian harmony, he expressed the confidence that the people would foil all conspiracies aimed at sowing discord between Muslims. He said the MMA would continue to strive to contribute towards creating sectarian harmony.
During his visits to hospitals, the MMA's acting president was accompanied by MMA leaders Asadullah Bhutto, Allama Hasan Turabi, Qanbar Abbas Naqvi, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, Nasrullah Shaji, Sarfraz Ahmad and Saeed Osmani.
