By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, May 9: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has directed the civil hospital authorities to provide all required treatment and medicines to the people injured in the earthquake of Sunday.

Over 30 people, including five police recruits and four students of the university, were injured in the earthquake that struck Quetta in the early hours of Sunday. But no deaths and damage to any property were reported, a senior officer of the local administration said.

The epicentre of the quake was located in the mountainous area of Sour-range, some 60km northeast of Quetta valley, Quetta Met Office Director Ziauddin told Dawn. Intensity of the earthquake, that struck at 1.11am, was recorded 4.7 at the open-ended international Richter scale.

"No aftershocks were recorded," he said, adding that the jolts were felt only in Quetta valley and its surroundings areas.
