DADU, May 8: Food officials have seized 11,000 bags of hoarded wheat in raids carried out in different parts of the district.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, the food department team members - district food controller Mir Mohammad Shah, Saleemullah Siddiqui and Salahuddin Shaikh - said that on the directives of the provincial food secretary, they raided a factory in the town and seized 1,000 bags of hoarded wheat.

They said that in another raid near Bhan Saeedabad town, they secured a grain market and seized 10,000 bags besides arresting 22 traders who had stashed the commodity without licence.

However, the traders were freed after recovery of the hoarded stocks, they added.

HELD: The Kotri police raided a place at the Site link road on Saturday and arrested four bandits.

The accused were identified as Mumtaz Sodhar, Noor Hussain, Hidayatullah and Habibullah.

The police also seized two pistols and 30 bullets from their possession.

Meanwhile, the Johi police arrested three accused Abdul Hakeem Jamali, Ghulam Abbas and Rajab Chandio and recovered from their possession a single-barrel and a double-barrel gun besides a pistol.

DEMO: Workers of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Zain Shah) held a demonstration outside the office of the Thariri Mohabbat union council Nazim on Saturday.

They were protesting against the failure of the sanitation and drainage as well as the water supply systems in the town.
