RAWALPINDI, May 7: Pirwadhai police have booked Mansoorul Farooq, son of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Information Secretary Siddiqul Farooq, on charges of resisting the arrest of his father by a police party when it raided their residence in Khayaban-i-Sir Syed on Thursday.

Mansoorul Farooq was booked on charges of firing at the police party when it raided their residence to take Mr Farooq into custody under 3 MPO. However, no one was killed or injured in the incident. Siddiqul Farooq was taken into custody in the wee hours of Thursday and sent to Adiala Jail for three months.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the wake of Friday's terrorist attack on an Imambargah in Karachi during Jumma prayers, official sources said.

Police personnel have been deployed at mosques and Imambargahs, while patrolling has also been intensified. In Islamabad, extra police pickets have been set up on different roads leading towards the parliament and President House.
