KARACHI: Muttahida activist, son wounded in attack

KARACHI, May 6: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and his son were shot and wounded in Sharifabad on Thursday morning. According to the Sharifabad police, two armed men opened fire at the car of ex-ASI Mohammad Naushad outside his house.

SHO Shahrukh said that Naushad was taking out his car from the garage when the assailants opened fire at the car and fled. Naushad received a bullet wound in his arm and his young son, who was also in the car, suffered a minor injury. Both were taken to Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad. They were stated to be out of danger.

The police said Naushad alias Major Dandy, worked as an assistant director in the city government. Meanwhile, the MQM coordination committee condemned the incident and demanded arrest of the culprits.

UC NAZIM WOUNDED: Union Council Nazim Masroor alias Chacha was shot at and wounded in Khudadad Colony in the Brigade police limits early on Wednesday morning.

Police said that Masroor Chacha, with his wife, had arrived at his house in Khudadad Colony on a motorcycle. His wife went inside the house while Masroor, 33, was answering a call on his cell phone when two armed men on a motorcycle shot at him and sped away.

Masroor, UC-9 nazim of Jamshed Town, received two bullet wounds and was taken to a hospital. His condition was stated to be out of danger. The police have registered a case against unknown assailants. No arrest has so far been made.
