Water body meets today

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 4: The parliamentary committee on water resources, led by Senator Nisar Memon, would meet on Wednesday to discuss overall water availability in the country to see if a large dam is required and feasible.

Members of the committee, Wapda chairman Tariq Hameed and provincial irrigation secretaries would attend the meeting. Sources said the question of water availability was not part of the terms of reference of the water committee but it has extended its jurisdiction in view of the fact that a decision on water reservoir could not be reached unless there is consensus on water availability data.

The sources said the meeting would be given presentation by Wapda team that was directed to come up with revised data supported by evidence.
