KARACHI, May 4: Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated here on Monday with religious fervour and solemnity and a renewed pledge by the people to uphold and promote Islam.

The day dawned with Quran Khawani in the main mosques of the city. And special prayers were offered for the integrity, solidarity and progress of the country and the Ummah.

Various religious, social, cultural and educational organizations held Milad Mahafil and Seerat meetings. Processions to pay homage to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) were also brought out.

Declamation contests, quiz programmes and Mahafil-i-Milad to highlight the life and teachings of the last prophet (PBUH) were also organized. The main procession started from Shaheed Masjid, Kharadar, at around 3.30pm which, after marching through the main roads of the city, terminated at Nishtar Park before Maghrib prayers.

Many small processions from different areas of the city were taken out which after marching through various routes, merged into the main procession. Some processions remained confined to their localities. - APP
