Security geared up for Olympics

ATHENS, May 2: With about 100 days remaining to the Athens Olympics, no tangible threat to the Games is flashing on secret services' radar screens. But security experts wonder if this is not just the silence before the storm.

"NATO and European Union countries' secret services tell us nothing is budging," a high-ranking Greek security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

But recent terrorist attacks, notably the March 11 Madrid bombings, are adding to the sense of urgency. "After the recent incidents, Jordan and Syria one can see that international terrorists can strike whenever and wherever they want." -AFP
