Rana grabs gold

LAHORE, May 1: Pakistan's Adeel Rana won a gold and three silver medals in the Asian powerlifting championship, according to a message received from Zarafshan, Uzbekistan on Saturday.

Adeel competed in 67.5 kgs category and lifted 170 kg in bench press to claim a gold, 212.5 kg in squad and 250 in deadlift to claim a silver medal apiece. His aggregate of 632.5 kg earned him the third silver medal.

Itmay be mentioned that, Adeel could claim onlythreebronze medals in the last championship at Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2003.

In next competitions, Imran Haider (75 kg) and Kashif Iqbal (82.5 kg) will represent Pakistan.
