KARACHI, April 28: Five persons were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the city on Wednesday and late Tuesday night. A young woman was killed by unknown persons. Her body was recovered near Kalapul late Tuesday night.
Rizwana, 30, was found dead near tracks beneath the Kalapul bridge, police said. The body was removed to JPMC for postmortem examination where doctors said the woman had suffered a single bullet wound in her head.
Police could not ascertain the motive behind the killing. They said Mohammad Ayaz, victim's husband, found his wife missing when he reached his home in Chanesar Goth. Later, area people told him about the recovery of a body near the Kalapul bridge. Subsequently, he reached the hospital and identified the body.
In Mawach goth, unknown persons killed a young man late Tuesday night, police said. Shahnawaz, 30, was found dead near National Chowk in Ittehad Town, with multiple bullet wounds. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.
In SITE area, a woman was killed by her husband early Wednesday morning. Razia Bibi, 40, was shot dead by her husband Muslim Khan in Pathan Colony. Following the incident, the suspects fled the house.
Police said a day earlier, the couple had a fight over some domestic issue. In another incident, an elderly man was killed by unknown men in F.B. Area early Tuesday morning.
Police said that unknown persons barged into the house of Mir Akbar Khan, 60, in Block-15 and fled after stabbing him. The victim was asleep when he was stabbed to death, police said.
The injured was taken to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Abbasi hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that victim had been living with his second wife. They suspected some personal vendetta as a possible motive behind the killing.
In yet another incident in Pirabad, an elderly man was shot dead by unknown persons late Tuesday night. Police said Gul Wali Afridi, 60, was sitting in his PCO when unknown persons opened fire on him.
SUICIDE: A man committed suicide in his home in Zaman Town on Wednesday. Police said Naseer Ahmed, 52, went to see his wife in Punjab some days back where he had a quarrel with his wife over some domestic matter. He returned to his son's home in Sector 41-B, Zaman Town, Korangi, who was a milk-seller, the police said.
He remained gloomy after the dispute with his wife. He went to his room, locked it from inside, and hanged himself with a ceiling fan. The police shifted his body to a hospital for autopsy. Police did not find any foul-play.
In another incident, the police said Saira Sultan, 22, sprinkled kerosene on her body and cremated herself at her home in New Karachi. She, along with her family, had shifted to a house in Sector 5-M, New Karachi, only three days back. Since they had shifted, Saira was insisting on obtaining a connection for a TV cable.
Her brother delayed the cable connection by saying that he had exhausted his savings and the connection would be obtained next month. In protest against the decision of her brother, Saira ended her life. Her body was moved to a hospital for autopsy. The police are convinced that it was a case of suicide.
