ISLAMABAD, April 27: The Board-in-Council (BIC) will review on Wednesday the progress of the implementation status of trade policy 2003-04 during the last eight months.
Well-placed sources in the commerce ministry told Dawn that Commerce Ministry had so far implemented 10 out of 24 major initiatives for enhancing country's exports.
On the other hand, all the measures announced for the facilitation of importers have not only been completely notified but also implemented, the sources said. The BIC would review the progress on projects like enterprise capacity building scheme; industrial clusters; relocation of industries; expo-Pakistan; promotional expenses; EPB office at Gwadar; land route trade; export of vegetable ghee and packaged rice.
The government has announced around 35 major initiatives for enhancement of country's exports to be implemented in 2003-04. It was also announced that an upgradation fund of Rs3.74bn would be allocated for different projects.The funds have yet to be allocated for these projects.
