RAWALPINDI, April 24: The subdued policies of Pakistani leaders after 9/11 have disgraced the country and spoiled its image in the comity of nations.

This was stated by Lt-Gen (retired) Hameed Gul at a seminar on 'Denial of human rights to muslims - A new doctrine or old philosophy'.

He said a leadership works like a strong shield for the whole nation with the capacity to face the vagaries of time. It is steel from above and cushion underneath, he said, hinting at the leaders to provide all kinds of security and protection to the citizens from the hardships that might fall upon him.

Gen Gul questioned the credibility of the UN, saying it had failed to protect the weak against the strong and prevent the gross human rights violations against the Muslims in different parts of the world. "We reject its request to send troops to Iraq," he said.

He said America would lose the war it had launched against the Muslims. It has got entrapped in Afghanistan and Iraq. He asked the US to review its policies to stop the growing hatred against it. Those who are denied justice and fundamental rights will turn to Al-Qaeda, he noted.

Lawyer Chaudhry Ikram stressed sticking to the ideology of Pakistan. He said Pakistan had been losing its identity due to the wrong policies of the rulers. Western cultures and traditions are followed in the name of 'moderate enlightenment', he regretted, saying it was nothing more than Muslims downfall and loss of their golden values.
