US women chamber team due next month

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 23: The United States Commerce Department is sending a representative delegation of the Colorado Women Chamber of Commerce (CWCC) next month for initiation of joint venture with Pakistani women entrepreneurs in various sectors.

The seven-member delegation, to be led by CWCC president Keller Hayes, would visit Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Multan and hold meetings with Pakistani women entrepreneurs to discuss possibilities of cooperation and joint venture between them.

Chief operating officer of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), Omer Aftab told reporters here on Friday that Pakistani women entrepreneurs had potential to exploit US market by exporting various items.

He said that the visit of CWCC delegation would provide an opportunity to Pakistani women entrepreneurs to enter the US market. Furthermore, interaction with US women entrepreneurs would provide competitive edge to Pakistani businesswomen.

He was of the view that US businesswomen must start joint ventures with their Pakistani counterparts in various fields like garments, jewellry, handicrafts, livestock, textile products, machinery, sports goods, herbal cosmetics, etc.
