KARACHI, April 21: The police on Wednesday submitted final charge-sheet against three accused of the Gadap tragedy. Zahid, Hanif and Haji Peeral were charge-sheeted for the offences under Sections 302 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 10 (3) and (4) of the Zina Ordinance.

The police cited as many as 18 prosecution witnesses in the charge-sheet, submitted in the court of the judicial magistrate, Malir, Farid Anver Qazi. Accused Manzoor has been shown as an absconder. Hajra, 8, and Sassi, 5, went missing on Feb 20, and they were found murdered adjacent to the Gadap police station on Feb 23. Hajra's head was hit with a blunt object and Sassi was shot in the head.

The bodies were severely dismembered as dogs and cats nibbled and gnawed them violently and several body parts of Hajra were found missing, according to the postmortem examination report. AFAQ'S ARREST: The police have shown arrest of Afaq Ahmed, chairman of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement in a murder case.

The case pertained to killing of a driver, Kafil Uddin, and injuries to one Rafiqun Nisa in a firing incident in July last year in Malir City area. Investigation officer of the case informed the additional district and sessions judge, Malir, Abdul Kabir Leghari, that Afaq Ahmed was in the judicial custody and the court may order his production.

The court, however, ordered the jail authorities to inform the court about the judicial custody of the accused on April 26. Amir Khan, party's general secretary, and Younus Khan, party's only MPA in Sindh Assembly, are already arrested in the case.

According to the charge-sheet, a Haqiqi worker, Babar alias Babri, was arrested for killing the cab driver. During interrogation, he disclosed to have committed the offence on the insistence of the party's top leadership.
