KARACHI: Two die in accidents

KARACHI, April 18: Two persons died in separate accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday. A speeding minibus of route W-11 hit a motorcyclist, Mehmood, 35, at Nagan Chowrangi. The injured was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where he was referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, but he died during treatment.

A vendor, Riaz Ahmed, was hit and injured by a speeding car on Mauripur Road. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment.

DROWNED: Three young men drowned in the sea in two separate incidents on Sunday. Police and Edhi sources said that Ahmed Shah and Amanullah were swept away by strong currents near PNS Himaliya. The two had come to the Cape Montz for picnic. At Russian Point near Port Qasim, a young man drowned in the sea. Police said that Babu, 20, was a resident of Korangi.

SHOT DEAD: Two persons were shot dead in different areas of the city on Sunday. Police said that a security guard was shot at by unknown persons in Nazimabad. Mohammad Zaman, 67, was deputed outside a house in Nazimabad No 4 when two motorcyclists came and opened fire at him. The suspects snatched his weapon and escaped.

Later, the guard was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment. An unidentified man was killed in the limits of Shah Latif police station on Sunday night. Police shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.
