KASUR, April 17: A headconstable and a robber were killed in an encounter on Saturday night at Maulapur village in Illahabad. Sources said HC Muhammad Sharif and two razakars were present at a picket near Kanganpur bypass. A passerby informed them that some armed men were looting the passersby at Maulapur village.

As soon as the three reached the spot, the robbers opened fire on them which was returned. In a brief shootout, the headconstable and a robber were killed on the spot.

It was learnt that robbers shifted the body of their accomplice to a nearby field.

Receiving information, Illahabad SHO Tariq Khan along with a heavy police contingent rushed to the spot. In the meanwhile, Kasur DPO Mian Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar, Chunian DSP Raja Zafar along with Elite Force squad also reached there. The shootout was still going on till the filing of this report late at night.
