'MMA seeks supremacy of parliament'

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 16: MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam has said the primary objective of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) is complete restoration of Constitution and supremacy of the parliament.

He expressed these views while speaking at a Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) conference held at Kharian on Friday, a press release said. The JI provincial Naib Ameer said the alliance was of the view that the offices of the chief of the army staff and that of the president could not go together.

He said according to Article (1)63, any government official could not claim presidentship. He said President Gen Pervez Musharraf would be the ultimate loser if he stuck to dilly- dallying tactics to buy time instead of shedding military uniform by December 31, 2004.
