SUKKUR: Rival groups make peace

SUKKUR, April 12: A bloody dispute between Kambrani and Essani clans was resolved by a Jirga in Adam Khan village near Jacobabad on Sunday. The dispute had started some seven years back when two Essani boys went to the agricultural land of Kambranis to collect vegetable.

The owner of the land tortured the boys, which sparked the clash between the two groups. On the next day Kambranis attacked a passenger bus and opened indiscriminate firing in which four persons, including two Essanis, were killed.

The clashes took place between the two groups from time to time which claimed some 32 lives while more than 20 were injured. Sardar Muqeem Khoso, Syed Inayat Hussain Shah, Agha Siraj Durrani and Sardar Jehangir Kakepoto represented the Kambrani group while Sindh Minister Mir Manzoor Panhwar, MNA Dr Ibrahim Jatoi, MNA Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and Abdul Razzaq Shah represented the Essani group.

The Jirga imposed a fine of Rs3,900,000 on the Essani group for killing 13 people of rival group while a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed for the injured persons. Thus total amount of fine comes to Rs4,900,000.

A fine of Rs4,200,000 against 13 murders of the Essani group was imposed upon the Kambrani group while Rs338,000 fine was imposed for the injured persons. Decision for the murder of six passers-by will be taken separately. Later, elders of the two groups embraced each other and vowed not to indulge in fighting again. Afterwards elders from either side were handed over the copies of the verdict.
