KARACHI, April 11: The Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS), like in other parts of the country, was observed with religious zeal and fervour in the city.

People from various schools of thought observed the day in their own way. The largest procession in the city was taken out from Nishtar Park which marched through its traditional route and terminated at Imambargah Husainian Iranian, Kharadar.

The main procession started from Nishtar Park around 1pm and passed through Old Numaish, Saddar, Boulton Market, Kharadar. It terminated at Imambargah Husainian Iranian in the evening.

The Pakistan Moharraum Association had organized the procession and the Abu Tarab Scouts led the procession up to Eidgah from where the Pak Haidry Scouts took over and led the procession up to the Imambargah.

Various organizations and individuals had set up first aid camps, stalls of water and milk (sabeel) along the route of the procession. The scouts had also set up their camps at various places to help control the traffic and guide the participants of the procession.

The banners and posters along the route were inscribed with slogans for unity and brotherhood in the ranks of Muslims and sectarian harmony for the well being of the country.
