KARACHI: Tension at SMC

Published April 12, 2004

KARACHI, April 11: In view of the tension prevailing at the Sindh Medical College, its administration has decided to call the parents of the students, who were nominated in an FIR after April 2 brawl at the college campus.

Sources said that a meeting of the faculty was held on Saturday to review the situation emerging in the wake of April 2 violence. It was decided that the parents of about 20 students, allegedly involved in the brawl, would be invited on April 17, to be informed about the conduct of the students and their alleged indulgence in violent activities.

Sources said that viva voce of third and fourth year MBBS exams would be held from April 12, as per revised schedule. The candidates having admit cards would be allowed entry into the college.

About classes, it was learnt that the administration would assess the situation for another couple of days and resumption of classes on April 12 was unlikely.
