PML-N slates interior minister's statement

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, April 10: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz group) has said that the interior minister's statement that Mian Shahbaz Sharif will be deported on his return home, amounted to contempt of court.

The party has asked the apex court to take a suo motu action against the minister.

A spokesman for the party said in a press release on Friday that the court had observed that every citizen of the country, including Shahbaz Sharif, had the right to move freely. He said that the court's observation had been widely welcomed by the people.

"The decision would prove a landmark as far as the return of the exiled leaders of political parties was concerned. The decision had been in line with the article 15 of the Constitution, which guarantees the free movement of the citizens," the release said.

The party spokesman described the minister's statement as "irresponsible" which, he added, was meant to create unrest among the people.

He said the party leadership was chalking out programme to warmly receive Shahbaz Sharif on his return from abroad.
