SHEIKHUPURA, April 10: The Sheikhupura Range DIG, Abdul Majid, has ordered cancellation of recruitment process of constables after receiving complaints about corruption, it is learnt on Saturday.

The DIG has issued these directions to the DPO, asking him to immediately stop the process.

Sources said the recruitment committee had violated the merit process and finalized the list of constables without any justification.

They also said the local MNAs and MPAs of the ruling party had sought 20 per cent quota, but the recruiting committee didn't oblige them.

It is also learnt that those candidates, whose names have been put in the final list, had paid Rs100,000 to 200,000 each to the committee through touts.

Disappointed with the move, they are reportedly demanding their money back.

DCO: Women make more than half of the country's population and without educating them we can not achieve prosperity.

These views were expressed by District Coordination Officer Tariq Najeeb Najmi while speaking at a meeting to review the provision of facilities to schools under the Tameer-i-Punjab programme.

MPAs Rai Ejaz Ahmad Khan, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Chaudhry Abid Chatha, EDO (Education) Prof Javed Iqbal Sindu and others also attended the meeting.

The DCO ordered provision of missing facilities to including boundary walls, toilets, furniture, water supply, electricity and sewerage to the educational institutions.
