Moin, Razzaq ruled out of third Test

LAHORE, April 8: Pakistan wicket-keeper Moin Khan and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq have been ruled out of next week's third and final Test against India due to injury. Moin is suffering from a groin problem and Razzaq from a back strain.

The pair also missed the second Test. "Moin and Razzaq have not recovered and will not be able to play the final Test," Samiul Hasan, media manager of the Pakistan team, said. "They have been released from the Pakistan squad and their replacements will be named tomorrow," he added. -Reuters

Our Sports Correspondent adds: Wasim Bari, the chairman of selectors, said that the squad for the third Test will be announced on Friday. He told reporters that the selection committee would name the squad and it was up to the team management to finalize the playing eleven.

Commenting on Pakistan's win in the second Test, Bari said the team staged a good comeback, but he warned them of complacency. He said the Indian team was a strong one and taking them lightly in the third Test could prove costly.

He said every player who was given a chance proved his worth. "Only wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal was recalled in place of injured Moin Khan while leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, medium-pacer Umar Gul and middle-order batsman Asim Kamal were already in the squad but were not given a chance in Multan."
