Wright all praise for Umar Gul
By Our Sports Correspondent
LAHORE, April 8: Indian coach John Wright admittedon Thursday that Umar Gul's performance in the second Test stunned him. Talking to reporters after the defeat, Wright, the former New Zealand skipper
, said that the Indians had not played against Umar in international cricket before and therefore he caused a lot of problems for them.
Wright said that obviously the performance of his side in the second Test was not at par but added that Pakistan displayed a more encouraging performance to make a comeback in the series.
It may be mentioned that experts including Australian's Ian Chappell had predicted that India would make a cleam sweep. Wright said that his side fielded well in scorching heat.
Yuvraj Singh played a good innings of 112 while Virender Sehwag, Parthiv Patel and Agarkar's resistance in the second innings were all positive points, the Indian coach noted. Meanwhile, Umar Gul said he was very excited at being declared Man-of-the-Match.
Umar told reporters that he wished to repeat the performance in the third Test at Rawalpindi. Umar took five wickets for 31 runs in the first innings and one in the second for 65. He said the match was memorable for him as it was against India and the situation was also tense. Despite being overlooked from the first Test and the ODIs series against India, Umar added that he was mentally prepared for the series.
