SUKKUR, April 8: An inter-provincial conference is being held in Karachi in early May which will be attended by President Gen Pervaiz Musharraf, Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, governors and chief ministers of the four provinces.
This was disclosed by Sindh minister for inter-provincial coordination Nadir Akmal Leghari while talking to newsmen here on Thursday. Problems related to the provinces will come under discussion and a joint strategy will be formed to resolve the same.
The minister said he had extended formal invitations to the president, prime minister Jamali and governors and chief ministers of the four provinces. He said the main objective of the conference was not only to promote harmony among the provinces but also to boost up investment and industrialization.
Mr Leghari said the law and order prevailing at the borders of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan would also come under active consideration. He hoped Sindh would benefit most by the conference which could enhance investment in different sectors. He said it was the need of hour to rehabilitate sick industrial units so as to overcome joblessness.
Institutions: District Naib Nazim Iqbal Dawood Pakwala has directed heads of private educational institutions of the district to register their schools under rules and regulations of 2001.
Speaking at a meeting of the institutions here on Wednesday, he said that fine would be imposed on institutions without registrations. He also asked the heads of the institutions to charge fees from students according to the rules. He said the institutions should take permission from the education department before increasing fees.
The EDO, education, Prof Rafia Naz, directed managements of the private schools to refrain from charging donations from students and appoint trained teachers.
