KARACHI: Korangi Road upgradation completed before time
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, April 8: While travelling on the newly-upgraded Korangi Road, one can enjoy the smooth ride equal to that on any highway anywhere in the world.
The wide, bump-free road has eliminated the traffic jams that previously occurred several times during the day, particularly in the evening peak hours.
This stretch between Kalapul and Hino Chowrangi is 7.05 kilometres, completed by the Frontier Works Organization ahead of schedule and at a cost lower than the estimated one. The task was to be completed by October this year at a cost of Rs108.672 million. The FWO finished it on March 31 at Rs91.923 million.
The width of the road is now 12.8 metres on each side, with two-metre footpath on either side and five-metre median. The curved poles crossing each other have at the base glazed tiles, adding to the beauty of the road. These streetlight poles existed before the upgradation of the road, but the tiles and fresh coats of paint have given them a new look.
