KARACHI, April 6: Four activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were killed in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Surjani Town on Tuesday. Aziz Bhatti police said three Muttahida activists were killed and one wounded in a clash between two groups
of the same faction at Raza Square on Rashid Minhas Road, opposite Aladin Park.
Those killed were identified as Jawwad, Sharjeel, and Tehseen alias Mamoo. Faisal Mughal suffered bullet wounds and was shifted to a hospital. All were in the mid-20s, the police added. A senior police official said the four activists were sitting inside the residential complex when five armed men opened indiscriminate fire on them. The assailants later fled.
Witnesses told the police that the assailants were also affiliated with the Muttahida, the senior police official said. Police sources said a lingering dispute over illegal possession of an apartment in the same complex ended in the deadly clash.
In another incident, Mehmood, an employee of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, was killed and his associate, Arif, was injured when unknown persons opened fire at the company's vehicle in Surjani town on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, police said.
The van (GP-5005) was going to pick up the staff when two persons on a motorcycle tried to intercept the vehicle near Pera Mando. As the van driver did not stop, the motorcyclists opened fire at the van. As a result, Mehmood, 45, lost his life and Arif suffered injuries.
