BAHAWALPUR, April 5: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has granted six-month extension to the distribution of the property of late Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi among his legal heirs and descendants.

The distribution period has been extended on the request of the committee, headed by Justice Qadeeruddin Ahmad Chaudhry (retired), who had moved the case after the expiry of three months' period on Feb 26.

The committee will shortly resume the task of the distribution of the late Nawab's property. The extension will be considered from Feb 26, 2004, the date which was originally fixed as deadline by the prime minister.

When contacted, a sub-committee chairman, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Bhatti, who is also the EDO (revenue), confirmed receiving the notification in this regard.

UPLIFT PROJECTS: As many as 102 uplift projects being taken up under the Tameer-i-Punjab Programme of 11 MPAs were reviewed at a meeting here on Monday. The schemes will cost around Rs56 million.

DCO Imran Ahmad, who chaired the meeting, informed the MPAs that 60 per cent work of the work on these schemes had been completed at a cost of Rs33 million.

ELECTROCUTED: Two brothers were killed when an electric pole on which Mepco employees were working fell on their house at Mauza Kotla Musa Khan near Ahmedpur on Monday.

Reports said Shahid died instantly while Munir succumbed to burns at a hospital. One of the workers, identified as Rahim Bakhsh, suffered injuries.

TWO KILLED: A man and a woman were murdered in different areas of the district on Monday. Imran allegedly murdered his sister over suspicion of illicit relations at Chak 11-DB, near Yazman. Later, he surrendered himself to police.

Four people shot dead Shamshad over property dispute at Chak 12-DB. Police have registered a case against the suspects on the report of the deceased's father.
