WASHINGTON, April 2: The US Department of Justice has intervened to allow a Muslim girl to wear headscarf inside the school, says a press release issued on Thursday.
The girl, who was identified only as a sixth-grade student at the Benjamin Franklin Science Academy in Muskogee, Okla, was suspended twice from her school for wearing scarf in the class.
The school officials said the headscarf violated the school's dress code, which prohibits hats, bandanas, or jacket hoods inside the building.
