HYDERABAD: Committee for Shah Latif's Urs formed

HYDERABAD, March 31: The DCO has constituted a committee to make arrangements to celebrate the 260th Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai from April 5 to 7 in a befitting manner.

DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed formed the seven-member body, with the EDO, revenue, Aftab Ahmad Memon, as its head and DDOs, revenue, and Mukhtiarkars of Matiari, Hala and Tando Mohammad Khan talukas as its members, while presiding over a meeting of district revenue officers at the Shahbaz Hall here on Monday.

The committee will extend administrative support to the Mela committee constituted by District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman under the chairmanship of deputy culture secretary Akbar Laghari.

He said the district government was giving priority to the Mela arrangement and it would remove shortcomings experienced last year. He assigned the EDO, agriculture, to ensure the holding of an agro-exhibition and a cattle show during the Mela. Mr Syed asked the committee to ensure that gas and telephone connections were provided at the Mela.

LUMHS: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences has announced that the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology has invited applications from scientists for award of Research Productivity Allowance for 2004-2005.

The last date for submitting application forms has been fixed at April 15.eanwhile, the LUMHS also announced that the last date for submitting forms for second professional MBBS examinations, scheduled for May 15, had been fixed at April 17 and with a late of Rs200 at April 24.
