KARACHI, March 31: An Anti-Terrorism Appellate bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Wahid Bux Brohi and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, on Wednesday issued notice to the state on a criminal miscellaneous application filed by Head Constable Supurd Hussain , facing trail before an anti-terrorism court on a charge of criminal negligence.

The applicant moved the court against orders of the ATC against him including proclamation as "offender". The applicant also sought quashment of proceedings against him in a dacoity and killing case of two children of then ADJ Rashida Asad when police fired at a dacoit fleeing the scene taking family of the ADJ as human shield.

Fahim Riaz Siddiqui appearing for the applicant maintained that another appellate bench of the SHC had set aside the sentence awarded to co-accused Muhammed Arif for want of evidence and treating the case of the applicant at par with that of Mohammed Arif, the proceedings against his client be quashed. The bench after hearing the counsel for the applicant issued notice to the state. - APP
