LAHORE, March 29: President General Pervez Musharraf and Governor Punjab Khalid Maqbool during their one-on-one meeting at Governor's House on Monday discussed various national issues, says an official handout.
Governor Khalid Maqbool informed the president that the performance of federal departments responsible for providing civic amenities and services to the masses had considerably improved in various districts of the Punjab and necessary measures had been taken by Wapda, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, the PTCL and Nadra to redress public grievances.
President Pervez Musharraf expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the present elected leadership and district governments had allocated record funds for development activities while federal departments were paying more attention to system augmentation through their own resources.
The president hoped that the setting up of branches of Khushhali Bank in all districts of the province would greatly help in implementation of the projects for eliminating unemployment and loans would be provided to unemployed skilled youth so that they could achieve economic self-sufficiency.
