ISLAMABAD, Mar 29: The Supreme Court on Monday held full court reference to pay tribute to three prominent jurists, late Justice Aslam Riaz Hussain, senior lawyers late Ijaz Hussain Batalvi, and late Khalid M. Ishaque.
Chief Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, who presided over the reference, paid tribute to late Justice Aslam Riaz Hussain, Khalid M. Ishaque and Ijaz Hussain Batalvi for their contribution towards the legal profession.
The chief justice said he did not know Justice Aslam Riaz Hussain personally but knew him through his judgments reported in the law books. The CJP said the late judge had a very successful career as a lawyer and as a judge.
About Khalid M. Ishaque, who died on Feb 8, 2004, the chief justice said his rise to prominence was because of his power of analysis, penetrating insight, strength of understanding, and integrity of his character. He also praised late Ijaz Hussain Batalvi for his outstanding professional contribution.
