Pemra warns TV cable operators of action

KARACHI, March 27: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), Sindh Region, has warned the cable operators to improve their service otherwise legal action will be taken against them.

This was decided at the 15th meeting of Council of Complaints of the authority held here on Saturday, presided over by Commissioner of COC, Nazim F. Haji.

The meeting highlighted issues regarding Cable TV, FM radio and private TV channels and stressed the need of self-regulation by the society for self-censorship of TV channels' contents.

The Council also recommended that compliance of technical standards be ensured by the Cable TV operators to cater to the quality service to subscribers.

It also took notice of complaints lodged by people from different walks of life and non-provision of service by some cable operators and directed them to improve their service otherwise action would be taken against them in accordance with the PEMRA ordinance.-APP
