Shaiza leads from front


KARACHI, March 25: Pakistan women cricketers produced a fine performance to surprise visiting Caribbean side by winning third One-day International (ODI) by 20 runs at Karachi Gymkhana ground Thursday.

Captain Shaiza Khan was architect in her team's triumph with an allround show. She scored a fine 30 with five boundaries off 41 balls. Later she took four wickets for 24 runs in nine overs.

Inserted to bat first, Pakistan collected 160 for nine in their 50 overs. Opener Kiran Baloch hit two boundaries in her 23 off 45 balls. Nazia Nazir hit a lone four in his 26. West Indies bowlers bowled as many as 23 wides.

Tourists in response were bundled out for 140 in 48th overs. Opener Nadine George 34 in 47 balls laced with four boundaries. West Indies total included 28 extras including 22 wides. The fourth match of seven match ODI series will be played at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Saturday.
