KARACHI, March 24: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has said that the city government is promoting library culture in schools so that teachers and students could maintain close liaison with books.

Addressing at a book distribution ceremony, he said that character building of people was also the responsibility of teachers that would lead to the establishment of a true Islamic welfare society.

Mr Naimatullah said, "Western culture has been dominating our society and we ourselves are promoting it while we have our own Islamic culture which needs to be promoted." Da'wa Academy's director Dr Khalid Alvi said that western nations wanted to obliterate collectively the Muslim Ummah. "In order to face the challenge, we should create habit of studying Islamic literature," he added.

Earlier, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan in co-operation with International Islamic University distributed religious books in 254 schools and public libraries.

EXHIBITION: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has said that flower exhibitions will be arranged in each town of the city in order to promote love and peace among citizens.

He was addressing at the prize distribution ceremony at the end of a four-day flower exhibition in Korangi Town. He said that the city government was focusing on the development schemes despite several impediments in new system.

"We would do exemplary work in the next one and a half year," he remarked. Later, the Nazim distributed awards and prizes among the participants of the four-day exhibition.

The first prize was won by Imam Din of Awami Nursery. Second prize went to Haji Liaquat of Farooq Azam Nursery and third prize went to Idris of Al-Faisal Siddiq Nursery. -PPI
