Warne chases world records
COLOMBO, March 22: In-form Australian spinner Shane Warne will be hoping to cap his dream return to international cricket with twin world records in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka starting here on Wednesday.
Warne, playing his first Test series after serving a 12-month drug ban, needs nine more wickets to break the Test record of 519 held by retired West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh.
The leg-spin genius is also one five-wicket haul short of becoming the first bowler in Test history to claim five scalps in as many successive Test innings in the same series.
Former Australian paceman Charles Turner took five or more wickets in six consecutive Test innings against England but he did it in two series, twice at home and four times away in the 19th century. The double feat looks very much on the cards considering Warne's awesome bowling performance in the last two Tests. -AFP
