West Indies hold Pakistan to draw

KARACHI, March 18: West Indies women cricketers produced incredible performance in the second innings to hold Pakistan to a draw in the four-day one-off women Test at National Stadium here on Thursday despite Shaiza Khan's match haul of 13 wickets.

Skipper Shaiza, who took seven wickets for 59 runs in the first innings, picked up six wickets for 167 runs in a marathon 55 overs of leg-spin in the second innings. She finished with match figures of 13 wickets for 226 runs.

Nadine George's brilliant ton and fighting half centuries by skipper Jacqueline Robinson and Stephanie were instrumental in saving their team from defeat.

West Indies, who were forced to follow-on after being bowled for 147 in their first innings in reply to Pakistan's mammoth total of 426 for seven declared.

Resuming at their overnight score of 230 for four wickets, Caribbean team were bowled for 440 in their second innings at tea. Needing improbable target of 162 to win in maximum of 31 overs, Pakistan women finished with 58 for three wickets in 23 overs when match was called off with no chance of result.
