KARACHI: Delay in execution of health project deplored

KARACHI, March 18: An inordinate delay in executing the approved project of a basic health unit has created unrest among residents of Shamspir Island, Keamari Town.
Even, the building proposed to house the project, approved by the Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS), had been obtained by the town administration from the city government and handed over to the FCS.
The residents deplored that the execution of the project could not be started despite the fact that its approval had been given by the FCS Board of Directors no less than some six months back. A director of the FCS, Haji Mohammad Yunis, has brought the matter to the notice of the Society's chairman to seek necessary action.
Haji Yunis wondered that when work on Khadda dispensary could be started without a KBCA-approved building plan, and funds could be released for the construction of a new building, why could not the work on the Shamspir project be taken in hand. He pointed out that the Shamspir project did not need an approved building plan as a ready building was there to house the proposed health unit.
He complained that no funds had so far been allotted for various development projects submitted by him for Shamspir, Kaka Village and Soomar Goth. In his letter, the director raised a number of issues including the Society's income over the last six months.
