BADIN: Protest against water shortage

BADIN, March 18: A strike was observed in Kario Ghanwar, Shaheed Fazil Rahu, on Wednesday against shortage of irrigation water. Residents of the area also staged a sit-in on the Shaheed Fazil Rahu-Hyderabad road for three hours.

The protesters, Allah Bachayo, Khan Mohammad Rasool Bux, Chetan and others, regretted that authorities concerned were not taking any step to ensure supply of water to the area.

PROCESSION: A protest procession was taken out by the Baloch Ittehad here on Wednesday against the Kalabagh dam and Thal canal projects. The Ittehad activists began their marched from the Qatar Mosque and staged a sit in on the main road.

They raised slogans against the federal government for not paying heed to opposition of the Sindh people to the controversial water projects. They demanded provision of its water share to Sindh, arrest of killers of PPP MPA Abdullah Murad and release of compensation amount to rain victims of Badin district.
