KARACHI, March 18: An under trial prisoner hanged himself in Central Prison Karachi on Thursday. PIB Colony police said that Azam Baloch, 28, was found hanging in a barrack.
His body was shifted to the civil hospital for autopsy.
Police said that Azam had killed his wife two months back in his house in Moach goth over some domestic dispute. In a fit of depression, he might have taken an extreme step to end his life, police added.
ACCIDENTS: Two persons died in separate road accidents on Thursday. According to Samanabad police, a recklessly driven van hit and injured a motorcyclist, Mohammad Yasin, 30. The injured was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police impounded the van and arrested the driver, Habib.
An elderly woman, Anwari Jan Begum, died in a hit-and-run accident on Khayaban-i-Ittehad Road in Gizri police limits late Wednesday night. Her body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy.
